More Royles on the way

BBC in talks with Aherne

The BBC has reportedly offered Caroline Aherne a deal to write two more Royle Family specials.

The hour-long Christmas Day edition was one of the ratings hits of the festive season attracting ten million viewers.

Although the show was billed as a one-off, Aherne and co-writer Craig Cash have now been invited to pen shows for the next two Christmas specials, according to the Daily Mirror.

And they have reportedly ‘agreed in principle’ to return to the show, which originally ran for three series between 1998 and 2000, before being revived with the 2006 Queen Of Sheeba special.
