Deacon lands youth show

Stand-up wins BBC Two slot

Stand-up Tom Deacon is to front BBC Two’s Saturday lunchtime youth strand from the new year.

The 22-year-old comic, who won last year’s Chortle Student Award, already hosts a daily online magazine programme The 5.19 Show for BBC Switch.

But from January, the programme will transfer to TV, too, becoming the ‘glue’ linking all of the broadcast programming, marking the beginnings of a T4-style youth zone.

The BBC Switch programming is being revamped from next month, including the new show The Teenager's Guide to Life, fronted by Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates.
