No more High Hopes

BBC axes Welsh sitcom

The BBC has axed its Welsh sitcom High Hopes.

Billed as the Welsh answer to Only Fools And Horses, the show has run for five series since 2002, only on BBC Wales.

But the corporation told the South Wales Echo that the programme will not be re-commissioned beyond 2009.

A spokesman said: ‘The next series of High Hopes is due to go out this autumn. The series has not been re-commissioned for next year.’

The show is set among loveable rogues in the fictional South Wales town of Cwm-Pen-Ôl – roughly translated as ‘Arse Valley’.
