Heroic casting

ITV2's new sitcom revealed

Patrick Baladi – who played David Brent’s nemesis Neil in The Office – is to star in ITV2’s new sitcom about off-duty superheroes.

The broadcaster has commissioned six half-hour episodes of No Heroics, as originally reported last year, and has now announced more details of the cast and premise.

The show, due to air in the autumn, will also star Nicholas Burns, who played Nathan Barley in the Chris Morris series, James Lance, Claire Keelan and Pulling’s Rebekah Staton.

Its premise is that the heroes just can’t be bothered to save the world, preferring to get drunk in their local pub.

Baladi said: ‘If only for this reason, viewers should tune into No Heroics later this year to see James Lance in his padded superhero suit – he looks especially inviting.

‘He left the rest of us looking particularly pitiable as our simple frames were all we had to fill our costumes.’

The show, which will be made by Tiger Aspect, was written by Drew Pearce, who previously produced High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman.

He said: ‘The cast are amazing, the scripts have jokes in them, and we're looking forward to exposing the seedy underbelly of superheroic life to the ITV2 audience.’
