And one suggestion is that it take the name of the BBC sitcom, with other possibilities including Zeta Jones International and Dame Shirley Bassey Gateway.
Local marketing expert said: ‘Cardiff International Airport – what does that say? It’s not a brilliant brand.’
But another Cardiff-based advertising executive, Jason Gill, warned that the new name should have gravitas.
He said: ‘It’s vital to get the right name. I would like to see the late Richard Burton or Roald Dahl be considered. I hope they don't succumb to the current celebrity-craved popcorn culture.’
The former RAF base was originally called Rhoose Airport when it started operating civilian flights.
