More Kath & Kim

US network ups its order

American TV executives have ordered more episodes of their Kath And Kim remake – three months before the first episode even goes out.

The NBC network had originally commissioned six episodes of the suburban comedy to be remade from the Australian original.

But after just one installment has been shot, the order has been more than doubled, bringing the first series up to 13 half-hour shows.

Kath and Kim – starring Molly Shannon as Kath and Selma Blair as her daughther – will premiere in the US on October 9, in the coveted Thursday-night slot following The Office.

The hit Australian version, which has been shown on BBC Two in the UK, was created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley.
