ITV goes back to Benidorm

Third series commissioned

ITV has ordered a third series of the Johnny Vegas comedy Benidorm.

Another eight episodes, plus a one-hour special, have been commissioned to air next year picking up the story a year on from series two.

ITV’s director of television Peter Fincham said: ‘Benidorm has a fantastic mix of warmth, charm, and fun. I am delighted to have this popular series returning to the channel next year.’

The show, which also stars the League of Gentlemen’s Steve Pemberton, was recently nominated for a Bafta for best sitcom and attracts between 5 and 6.5million viewers.

ITV's director of entertainment and comedy, Paul Jackson, added: ‘With such impressive ratings ITV is very pleased to commission more. Benidorm has performed brilliantly on the channel and online. The series clearly has a great fan base.’
