McSpaced bites the dust?

Fox 'passes on US remake'

The US version of Spaced has been axed, according to internet reports.

Deadline Hollywood Daily says that the Fox network has passed on the opportunity to pick up a full series following completion of a pilot episode.

The creators of the Channel 4 original – Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes and Edgar Wright – have been highly critical of the remake, which they were not even told about, let alone consulted over.

Director Wright greeted reports of its demise as possibly ‘the best news ever’.

Posting on his MySpace blog, he said: ‘In normal circumstances, it would be strange to celebrate a pilot not being picked up. But the last nine months or so have not been normal at all. They've been painful, upsetting, frustrating and deeply depressing. So, it's nice to know that sometimes things work out.’

The cast of the Fox pilot included Josh Lawson, Sarah Rue, Will Sasso, Federico Dordei and Yara Martinez.
