Bafta honours writing duo

Special award for Croft & Perry

Veteran comedy writers Jimmy Perry and David Croft are to receive a special award from Bafta.

The duo, whose credits include Dad's Army, Hi-De-Hi! and It Ain't Half Hot Mum, are to receive the accolade at the academy’s annual ceremony rewarding backstage talent.

A Bafta spokesman said: ‘This year’s Special Award honours the dynamic writing duo David Croft and Jimmy Perry, whose slate of work is testament to their extraordinary creative contribution to television. They are one of the most successful comedy sitcom-writing partnerships.’

The awards are dominated by dramas and documentaries, but Mark Everson is up for an award for editing The Mighty Boosh,

The ceremony takes place on May 11, four weeks after the main TV Baftas are handed out
