Minns attackers escape justice

Police drop investigation

The thugs who attacked Norwich comedian Karl Minns look set to go unpunished, after police dropped their investigation.

The brutal, unprovoked attacked left the comic with a fractured skull and broken arm – and forced him to cancel his traditional Christmas run of gigs at the Norwich Playhouse.

However, detectives have now dropped the case, saying there is not enough evidence to proceed.

But writing on his blog, Minns praised the police efforts and said he was ‘relieved’ not to have to go through identity parades and a court hearing.

The 37-year-old Nimmo Twins comic said: ‘The local CID paid a visit yesterday and told me that the investigation into the attack has been dropped, due to “lack of evidence”, so that's that.

Two men and a woman punched him in the face as he was returning home from his gig, then savagely kicked him as he lay on the ground.

‘My bloodied clothes were returned in police evidence bags and I've been advised to seek compensation [from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority].’
