Brits in NBC's Last Comic Standing

Several British stand-ups have got through to the semi-finals of American reality programme Last Comic Standing.

A preliminary heat for international acts was held in Miami on Saturday night, with judges including The Daily Show’s John Oliver.

The British acts who are going through are Stephen K Amos (pictured), Jim Tavare, Shazia Mirza, Kojo, Papa CJ and Paul Foot.

Another audition has already been held in Los Angeles, and further one in New York, Toronto, Minneapolis, Houston, Tempe (Arizona), San Francisco and Nashville will determine the other North American semi-finalists.

Ten comics will eventually be chosen to take part in the elimination rounds of the NBC show – which last year included UK acts Gina Yashere and Matt Kirshen.
