Ted's milk float tours Ireland

The milk float which featured in the Father Ted take on the Speed movie has set off on a national tour of Ireland.

The vehicle left Galway last night – and will be pushed around the country over the next 40 days and 40 nights.

Organisers plan to cover 800 miles, raising money for Down's Syndrome charities as they go.

Bookmaker Paddy Power is sponsoring the Ted 40 event, and is offering odds on all manner of strange bets – such as the float becoming president of Ireland (250-1) or the next Eurovision entry.

The milk float should return to Galway on February 28, the 10th anniversary of Father Ted star Dermot Morgan’s death. The second Tedfest celebration of the show begins the following day.
