Film planned of Hawks's book

Tony Hawks is making a movie version of his hit book Round Ireland With A Fridge.

The film will be a fictional comedy inspired by the comedian’s bizarre exploits to win a ridiculous drunken bet.

Filming is due to start in May, and will involve some semi-improvised scenes, Hawks revealed on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Velvet Pictures, which is making the movie, said: ‘The movie version of Round Ireland with a Fridge is faithful to the style of the book, but is a fictional comedy inspired by its events. Velvet is certain that all those who read and loved the book will love the film just as much.’

The book of Hawks’s strange journey has sold more than 500,000 copies since it was first published in 1998, and a film version was fist mooted two years ago,
