Kay's Cash row

TV show 'axed in budget row'

Peter Kay’s new TV show has reportedly been ditched, after a row with writer Craig Cash over money.

The pair had been working on the ITV1 comedy drama, Sunshine, with Peter starring as a bin man.

The show, being made by Cash’s production company Jellylegs Productions, had been due to launch in thespring.

But The Sun today reports Cash and Kay have fallen out, and quoted an unnamed insider saying: ‘Sunshine is pretty much dead in the water — Peter isn’t doing it.

‘Things were going well but when it came to discussing the budget things went a bit sour.’

The programme, which Cash was scripting with his Early Doors co-writer Phil Mealey, would have been Kay’s first TV series since Max And Paddy in 2004 – and a coup for ITV in luring Kay from Channel 4.

An ITV spokesman said: ‘We were interested in the show but it isn’t happening any more.’
