ITV2 plans celeb-mag sitcom

ITV2 is considering a sitcom set in the offices of a Heat-style celebrity magazine.

David Schneider, (pictured) best known for his work on The Day Today, has directed a pilot episode of Up Close And Personal, and the broadcaster is now deciding whether to commission a full series.

It was written by Andy Rattenbury, whose credits include Teachers and Absolute Power and stars Raquel Cassidy, who plays Jack Dee’s wife in Lead Balloon.

The programme is being developed by Talkback Thames, the company behind such hits as Green Wing, The IT Crowd and Nathan Barley, actors’ newspaper The Stage reports.

ITV2 has pledged £10million to develop new comedies, and has already commissioned a sitcom called No Heroics, about off-duty superheroes.
