America gets Star Stories

US remake for C4 comedy

Channel 4 comedy Star Search is to become the latest series to be remade for the American market.

The VH1 network has ordered an hour-long pilot edition of the programme, which spoofs celebrities’ life stories as reported by the tabloids.

The UK version, made by Objective Productions, was named best new TV comedy at last year’s British Comedy Awards and has previously featured episodes about Madonna, David and Victoria Beckham and Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.

The US version will be produced by Objective's Lee Hupfield, trade magazine Broadcast reports.

Channel 4 is currently showing the second series. Click here for a preview of this Friday’s show.
