Frankie Boyle is to host a topical comedy show, described as a Scottish version of The Daily Show.

The programme, provisionally titled The End Of The World SHow, will run over six weeks on BBC Scotland next spring.

Boyle told The Scotsman: ‘It's supposed to be like The Daily Show, but it's far too harsh and gaggy for that.’

And he said it would also feature ‘a really generous interview where you get someone funny and let them talk about whatever they want.’

In a pilot episode, the guest was Richard Herring, who he invited into a hot tub with two bikini-clad girls.
