Bill for Eurovision?

Bailey's song contest bid

Bill Bailey is planning to enter the next Eurovision song contest.

The comic is working on new songs – and he will let his fans vote on which one should be entered into the competition itself.

He says it’s in response to an online campaigns, including a Facebook group which boasts more than 17,000 members.

A posting on his official website said: ‘Thanks to the demand, Bill has decided to put himself forward for the next contest.

‘And being the man of the people that he is, he's going to let you choose his entry and will be working on some new songs which you will have the opportunity to vote for.’

The British entry to the competition is traditionally chosen by a televised vote of hopefuls.

Bailey is also hosting a four-part Radio 2 documentary on tribute bands, called Earth, Wind, For Hire at 11pm on Wednesdays from August 22.
