Len goes home

Henry finally plays Dudley gigs

Lenny Henry has caved in to pressure – and decided to perform at his hometown after all.

The comic disappointed fans in Dudley last year when he unveiled his tour dates – but skipped the West Midlands town where he grew up.

The snub was heightened because the show, Where You From?, is all about roots.

At the time, he claimed there was no suitable theatre there, saying ‘It’s a theatre show and so we tend to only do theatre gigs. I’m really sad there’s no theatre in Dudley. What can we do about it?’

However, he has just unveiled a new batch of dates – including four in Dudley’s 1,000-seater Concert Hall. The tour will even end there, on November 27.

Now he told the local newspaper: ‘I’m looking forward to coming back to Dudley – I just don’t know how many people will show up.

‘I enjoy coming back to Dudley and so I just thought let’s do it. I’ve done a lot of filming in Dudley recently for my latest TV show
