Family Guy to make Star Wars spoof

Family Guy is to kick off its next series with an hour-long spoof of the Star Wars saga.

The animated series will parody the tale with Peter Griffin as Han Solo and evil baby Stewie as Darth Vader. Brian the family dog be Chewbaca, while robots R2-D2 and C-3PO will be played by Peter’s drinking buddies Cleveland and Quagmire.

Lucasfilm has given its blessing to the episode, thanks to the efforts of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who admits he’s a major Star Wars fan.

The first footage from the episode will be aired at this weekend’s Los Angeles convention marking 30 years since Star Wars debuted, according to Hollywood trader paper Variety,

The episode will air in the States in September, launching the fifth series of the Fox comedy. The season will also include the 100th episode, which will be marked with a two-part special due to air in November.
