Oi, that's my line!

Brown complains about editor's quip

Veteran stand-up Arnold Brown has complained after one of his gags was borrowed by the editor of The Independent.

Simon Kelner brought the house down at a recent conference on public relations by saying of new technology: ‘Vodcast, podcast, bathcast ... I'm old enough to remember the excitement of cordless pyjamas.’

Reporting the conference, The Guardian praised Kelner for ‘his talent to amuse’. But, it seems, it wasn’t his own talent.

Writing to complain to the paper today, Glasgow-born Brown said: ‘I must point out that this line is part of a routine of mine, used over the years in my live act and featured on a comedy album.

‘As a stand-up comedian, I do object being ripped off by a sit-down journo.’
