Little Britain duo in Aussie soap

Matt Lucas and David Walliams are to appear in an episode of Neighbours – as Lou and Andy.

Their cameo appearance will be screened in Australia in three months time, but UK viewers will have to wait until September to see it.

Actors Ryan Moloney (who plays Toadie Rebecchi), Carla Bonner (Steph Hoyland), and Nicky Whelan (Pepper Steiger) feature in the scene, which takes place in Erinsborough’s Scarlet Bar.

But other than that, producers are keeping details of the scene under tight wraps.

The official Neighbours website said only: ‘The cast and crew were delighted to welcome Matt, David and the documentary team that are recording their experience on tour Down Under. We are pleased to report that whole experience was relatively kerfuffle-free.’

Several Neighbours cast members watched the duo’s live show when it visited Melbourne and confessed they were fans.

Dan O'Connor, who plays Ned Parker, said: ‘I love Little Britain . I've even got one of those key rings that play all of the catchphrases. And I had my picture taken with the Madame Tussauds waxwork of Andy when I was in London.’

Matt Lucas has also filmed a cameo in top-rated sitcom Kath And Kim while in Australia.
