Mark Thomas lands R4 show

Criminal acts
Mark Thomas is to make a Radio 4 show about his campaign against laws banning demonstrations near Parliament.

The comic has been trying to subvert the Organised Crime and Police Act since it was enacted in 2005 to try to rid Parliament Square of long-term anti-war campaigner Brian Haw.

He has organised a series of ‘mass lone demonstrations', to try to disrupt the rules that require police permission for protests near Westminster.

Now his efforts are to be chronicled in the Radio 4 show My Life In Serious Organised Crime, to be recorded next month.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘It's the best of British political comedy: All grown up, but then driven to act extremely childishly.’

The show is being recorded in Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios on March 19 at 7pm. Visit the BBC ticket unit for free audience tickets.
