The buzz about Fuzz

Pegg movie's great opening

Simon Pegg’s cop spoof Hot Fuzz took almost £1m in its first day of release in the UK alone.

Distributors Working Title brought the British release date ahead so it could open on Valentine’s Day.

And even though it might seem like an unlikely date movie, the decision appears to have paid off according to box office figures reported in trade paper Variety.

Its opening day trade of £901,000 over 500 screens was 50 per cent more than Bridget Jones' Diary managed on its first day, and almost double the figure expected for the first two days.
