Norton on Heat

Celeb chat show for Graham

Graham Norton is to front a new BBC Two comedy talk show about Heat magazine-style celebrity news.

The new show comes on top of his live talent show, When Will I Be Famous?, which has just begun in a primetime Saturday night show.

The Graham Norton Show, which begins in late February will focus on ' the people, trends, stories and aspects of celebrity culture that interest him most,' according to the BBC.

It will feature stand-up monologues, celebrity chat and eccentric stories and characters, plus 'celebrity guests' anecdotes to the sillier stories buzzing round the wires', a corporation spokesman added.

Last summer, Norton renewed a contract tying him to the BBC until 2009, for a reported £5 million.

He was poached from Channel 4 in 2004 for a lucrative contract, although the corporation initially found it difficult to find a format to suit him. He has since hosted the West End talent hunt How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and presented three series of his chat show The Bigger Picture on BBC One
