Hughes goes to hospital

Sean in NHS reality show

Sean Hughes is to work on the wards of an NHS hospital as part of a new celebrity reality show.

Although the comic admits to a phobia of hospitals, he will spend two weeks at Barnsley General for the Five series So You Think You Can Nurse?

He will be working on the paediatric and orthopaedic wards, receiving the same on-the-job training as a genuine auxilliary nurse. He will also live in the basic nurses’ quarters on site, to get an accurate idea of the life of an NHS trainee.

Janet Street Porter and Gail Porter will also appear in the show, working in maternity and A&E respectively.

Three hour-long programmes, which will be broadcast early this year, will chart their progress.

Hughes has recently returned to stand-up after quitting as team captain on Never Mind The Buzzcocks in 2002.
