Kane to be face of new TV channel

Eddie award nominee Russell Kane has landed a deal to be the face of new digital TV channel Five US.

The stand-up, who is in line for best newcomer at the if.comeddie awards tomorrow night, will present news and features about the new station’s programmes, including Conviction, Vanished, Shark and CSI.

And he will interview the American public for short films, ranging from 30 seconds to even minutes, to be peppered across the channel’s schedule.

Nol Davis, Five’s head of creative services, said: ‘Russell Kane is both a unique comic talent and an empathetic interviewer.

‘He will undertake a voyage to discover America afresh and illuminate what makes its people tick. This breakout from the normal confines of continuity will allow Five US viewers to travel with us on a genuine road trip across the USA.’

The spin-off channel will broadcast selection of American drama, comedy, film, sports and youth programming when it launches in October.
