Comics in line for Stage awards

Daniel Kitson and Phil Nichol have been shortlisted for acting prizes at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The comics are in the running for the annual awards handed out by actors’ newspaper The Stage, alongside character comedian Lizzie Roper and storyteller David Benson.

Nichol, pictured, has been nominated for the best actor award for his role in Talk Radio, directed by Stewart Lee and produced by Nichol’s own new-found Comedians’ Theatre Company.

It’s one of several shows the Canadian comic is performing in Edinburgh, including his own stand-up show, Naked Racist, and another play True West.

Meanwhile, Kitson, Roper and Benson have been nominated for best solo performer for their shows C-90, Peccadillo Circus and Why Pay More?
