Cast of 32nd film revealed

Shane Richie, Vinnie Jones and Victoria Silvstedt are to star in the 32nd Carry On film, it has been revealed.

Carry On London will revolve around a limousine company, Lenny's Limos, employed to ferry celebrities to the Herbert awards.

The decision to resurrect the Carry On frnachise was first announced in 2003 but the project hit financial problems and was put on ice.

The original cast – which  included Lady Isabella Hervey  and Ex-EastEnders Danniella Westbrook and Shaun Williamson - then dropped out.

However, a new producer, writing team, director and cast has now been recruited, putting the film back on track.

Peter Richardson, best known for The Comic Strip Presents... TV series, will direct the £6.4 million film.

Richie will play the lead character, limo company owner Lenny, while Jones has been cast as nightclub owner and gangster Tony Le Berc, known as "two fingers Tony". Silvstedt plays a starlet being driven to the fictional awards ceremony.

Other characters, announced in Cannes yesterday, include scoundrel Sir Desmond Uppingham Knightly and Hollywood film boss IP Freely.

Jones said: ‘It’s a great honour to be carrying on a wonderful tradition. I’m really looking forward to it, matron.’

The last revival, Carry On Columbus, flopped in 1992 despite featuring the cream of the alternative comedy scene next to some of the franchise’s stalwarts.
