Johnny wins lotto in new R4 play

Johnny Vegas has signed up to star in a new Radio 4 play.

He will play Lucky Lonny,  a man who claims never to have done a decent day’s work in his life and happily festers in his motor home – until he wins £6million on the lottery.

The script has been created by writer Mike Stott, and directed by Dirk Maggs, who directed the recent Radio 4 sequel to the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. It will go out on Tuesday June 6 at 2.15pm.

Also on Radio 4, a star-studded cast is to star in a new sitcom about a man in a coma.

Vent alternates between surreal scenes in the patient’s head, the sitcom he’s determined to write when he wakes up and bedside scenes between his wife, mother and friends.

The regular cast includes Neil Pearson, Leslie Ash, Josie Lawrence and Fiona Allen with guests including David Mitchell.

Vent, which starts at 11pm on Tuesday July 11 and runs for six weeks, has been created by Nigel Smith, who rote the BBC comedy Doctors and Nurses, and the producer of Spaced and That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

Finally, Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive also returns to Radio 4 at 6.30pm on Fridays at the end of next month.
