Lucas to star in kids' classic
Matt Lucas is to play Mr Toad in Wind In The Willows.
The Little Britain star has reportedly signed up for the haughty, boastful role in a £5 million adaptation of the children’s classic for the BBC.
Filming had been due to start last year, but budget problems caused a delay.
Now The Mirror reports a show insider saying: ’Matt is over the moon. He's a big fan of the story.’
The BBC say the story will be shown on BBC One, but gave no indication of a transmission date or any other cast members.
Kenneth Grahame's classic was adapted for the big screen a decade ago, with ex-Python Terry Jones as Toad of Toad Hall, Eric Idle as Ratty and Steve Coogan as Mole.Published: 27 Mar 2006
