Cleese to tour again

New dates in Australia

John Cleese is planning more dates for his live show, prompting speculation about a full-scale tour of Britain and America.

The comic unveiled his first stand-up show, John Cleese: His Life, Times and Current Medical Problems, in New Zealand last year.

He performed 22 sell-out shows, which also starred his daughter Camilla, after originally planning just 15.

Cleese, 66, now has a handful of dates planned in California, where he lives, in February and March.

And he will visit Australia in September with a full-scale tour that will call at Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Newcastle.

Cleese, who is currently on a family holiday to Sydney, said he adored Australia. ‘I have to say my family has fallen in love with it in the past three weeks,’ he told local reporters, adding that his daughter was even talking about moving here.

He has called the tour ‘a one-man show with several people in it, which pushes the envelope of acceptable behaviour in new and disgusting ways.’

Tickets for the Australian tour go on sale in March.
