Sue Perkins has announced her first solo national tour.

She will be going on the road with the stand-up show Spectacle Wearer Of The Year 2006, which she has just performed at the Edinburgh Fringe to OK reviews.

These were her first stand-up gigs following her 17-year partnership with Mel Giedroyc.

Mel and Sue were shortlisted for a best enwcomers award at the 1993 Edinburgh festival before fronting the Channel 4 daytime show, Light Lunch.

Since Mel had a baby four years ago, Perkins has been increasingly taking on solo work, hosting Radio 4’s 99p Challenge and taking part in Celebrity Big Brother.

Her 13-date tour starts with three nights at London’s Soho Theatre from September 19 to 21, and ends in Stamford, Lincolnshire, in November.
