Gervais lands movie cameo
Ricky Gervais has landed a cameo part in a new Hollywood comedy from Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest.
In For Your Consideration, a send-up of the movie awards season, the Extras star will play a studio boss who believes his awful film about the Deep South in the Forties is in the running for an award.
The mock documentary, written and directed by Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest, will be mostly improvised.
It co-stars American Pie dad Eugene Levy, who will co-direct, and filming begins in Los Angeles in October.
Guest told Hollywood’s Variety magazine: "We all know many people who've been through this reality and how it changes them.
"This happens to be an area I know something about. It's a virus."
For Your Consideration is due to be released at the end of 2006.
