Spike's will resolved

Widow Shelagh wins battle

The bitter family battle over Spike Milligan’s legacy has finally been resolved, more than three years after his death.

His widow, and third wife, Shelagh will receive most of his £626,300 estate, as stipulated in his will.

Some of his six children launched a legal bid to get the will revoked in favour of an earlier one which left them a share of his house a in East Sussex.

But his final will, drawn up in 1998, has now been approved by the High Court.

It stipulated that it wanted Shelagh to give his children only ‘any funds surplus to her requirements’ from time to time.

Milligan, who died from kidney failure in February 2002 aged 83, also asked that his children be allowed any family photographs, muskets and paintings from his home that they wanted .

But he said that both requests were only his wish and not legal obligations.
