It's Carr, James Carr

Jimmy lands spy role

Jimmy Carr is to play a spy in a £25million blockbuster.

The role as an MI6 agent in the thriller Stormbreaker could be a big-screen breakthrough for the comic.

He already has one film in the can, appearing alongside Office star Martin Freeman in the British wedding-based comedy Confetti, due out later this year.

But Stormbreaker, based on a series of books by Anthony Horowitz about reluctant teenage spy Alex Rider, will have a much higher profile – and a cast that includes Alicia Silverstone, Bill Nighy and Mickey Rourke.

There’s also a cameo by Ewan McGregor, and last week it was announced that Stephen Fry would play a Q-style gadgets boffin

Carr told the Daily Mirror: "I get cast because I'm something between Hugh Grant and Mr Bean - obviously closer to Mr Bean in the looks department."

The film, which could be the start of a new Hollywood franchise, is due out next year.
