BBC appoints new executive

The BBC has poached Channel 4 commissioning editor Katie Taylor as its new executive editor for comedy entertainment.

In the three years she has been at Channel 4, she has been responsible for shows from Derren Brown, David Blaine and Graham Norton - who the BBC also signed at great expense.

Her new boss,entertainment commissioning controller Jane Lush  said: 'I am thrilled Katie has accepted this new role. Her great track record in comedy entertainment formats will enhance our ability to get the very best programmes.'

Taylor said: 'I'm very excited by the challenge of commissioning modern, witty and must-see comedy and entertainment formats, and bringing fresh talent both on and off screen to the BBC.'
