Peter fills Albert

Kay gig sells out fast

Peter Kay has sold out the Royal Albert Hall within hours of announcing a gig there.

The Phoenix Nights comic has previously said that he wanted ‘a few years off’ stand-up following his mammoth Mum Wants A Bungalow Tour, which ended in 2003.

But he agreed to a one-off performance in London as part of a week of events in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

The 3,900 seats for the comedy night Kay is fronting on April 6 were snapped almost instantly after going on sale yesterday.

Coincidentally, his last bestselling DVD played on the fact it was recorded at the Albert Halls – but the ones in Bolton.

The week of London fundraisers, produced by The Who’s Roger Daltry, have become an annual fixture and are now in their fifth year.

Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Robert Plant, and Eric Clapton are also appearing, with extra guests still to be announced.
