Boosh bashed

Ratings disappointment on BBC2

The Mighty Boosh have failed to make much of an impact on their terrestrial TV debut.

Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt’s cult comedy, developed on BBC3, attracted 800,000 viewers when it made the switch to BBC2 on Wednesday night.

Overnight figures show it was beaten at 7pm by Channel 4 News, which was seen by 1.1million people.

The slot is a lot earlier than its digital outings, suggesting the corporation had hoped the zoo-based shenanigans would attract a more family audience when it shunted to the mainstream channel. In fact, fewer than four per cent of the audience saw the show.

The Mighty Boosh drew around 150,000 viewers when it was aired on BBC Three, a more respectable figure for the minority channel and enough to earn the duo a second series, which Fielding and Barratt are currently writing. This will be aired on BBC3 in spring next year.

Meanwhile, The Mighty Boosh’s radio series has been released on CD this week. Click here to order for £15.99
