The finalists in this year’s BBC New Comedy Awards have been announced.

Jarlath Regan, James Sherwood, Andrew Lawrence, Liam Mullone, David Nicholls and Danielle Ward will all appear in the final, to be broadcast on digital channel BBC 7.

A documentary about the talent hunt will also be broadcast on Radio 4, as opposed to previous years when the final has been aired on TV.

The sold-out final, at London’s Comedy Store on December 13,  will be judged by the BBC’s head of radio comedy  John Pidgeon, Comedy Store owner Don Ward and comedian Marcus Brigstocke.

It will go out on BBC7 on  January 3, while the Radio 4 programme will air at 11pm on December 30.

The regional semi-finals will also be transmitted on BBC 7 on Tuesdays from November 23.

The competition had been open to acts performing for less than three years.
