Seinfeld cast reunion

For TV special to plug DVDs

The stars of Seinfeld are to reunite for a TV special.

The Thanksgiving Day show will come just two days after the hit sitcom is released on DVD for the first time.

Jerry Seinfeld will host the NBC show, featuring new interviews with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards and series co-creator Larry David.

The network’s entertainment president, Kevin Reilly, said the special would focus on the early days of Seinfeld, when it was attracted poor reviews and low ratings.

It went on to run from 1989 to 1998 – and ensuing solo projects from all the co-stars flopped; save for Seinfeld himself who avoided TV and to return to his stand-up roots.

The first three seasons will be released in various DVD combinations in November, with a raft of extras including outtakes, more interviews and commentaries.

And the release is not confined to America; Region 2 discs designed for British DVD players are also on the way.

The entire three seasons will be priced £59.99 – although Amazon is currently offering an £18 discount on preorders. Click here.
