Sheffield of dreams...

Festival planned for South Yorks

Sheffield is to join the growing band of British cities with their own comedy festival.

Stand-up Toby Foster, pictured, who also presents a show on BBC Radio Sheffield, is planning Grin Up North festival for next October.

He and fellow organiser Scott Barton hope the event will become an annual occurrence. Coming so soon after August’s Edinburgh Festival, it should be able to offer the best of the Fringe to South Yorkshire comedy fans

The festival should also include theatrical productions, cinema, an open mic contest and street theatre.

Barton said: "We are at the early stages yet, but feedback has been brilliant."
