Double or quits
Alistair McGowan is ditching his Big Impression TV series because he’s run out of ideas.
The impressionist admitted that he cannot find anyone new to impersonate, and has exhausted the potential of all his regular targets.
He and co-star Ronni Ancona will end Big Impression with a Christmas special before going their separate ways. Ancona is already in rehearsals for a Sadler’s Wells production of Singing In The Rain, opening at the end of this month.
McGowan, 39, told TV Times that celebrities are now too bland to impersonate.
He said: “We're pretty sure we've done our last series. We decided we wanted to do other things.
“We've got one show at Christmas and after that we don't really know. But we want to move on because we've impersonated so many stars now.'
“We need to go away and refresh ourselves a little bit.”Published: 7 Jul 2004
