Jess for success

Stephenson lands BBC1 sitcom

Spaced star Jessica Stephenson is to front a new BBC1 sitcom.

The actress, who also played neighbour Cheryl in The Royle Family, has been named as the star of the new  comedy Everything I Know About Men, created by My Family’s Fred Barron.

Like its predecessor, the show has been produced along the American model, using a team of writers.

Filming on the sitcom starts next week, and also stars Greg Wise, who appeared in the TV adaptation of Sense & Sensibility and Oliver Chris, who had a small part as a temp in The Office.

A BBC spokesman said the show revolved around the life of Bex Atwell, “a young secretary who's stuck in a world of 'Almost'… almost in a relationship, almost up for a good job, almost a size 8 (okay, size 12) and her determination to get un-stuck.”

Free audience tickets are available to the recordings, at Pinewood Studios, West London on Thusdays from May 13 to June 17. Visit the BBC Ticket Unit website for details.
