What's the deal with Seinfeld?

King of sitcom domain returns to TV

Seinfeld is returning to American TV – thanks to corporate giant American Express.

The comic has recorded a series of Internet adverts for the finance company in which he appears alongside Superman.

But now the NBC network, home of his original sitcom, has announced it will air the quarter-hour show The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman on May 20.

Other details have not been released, but the show is expected to be based on the commercials, directed by Barry Levinson.

Also unclear is whether Amex has paid NBC for the broadcast, or whether the network is simply desperate to see Seinfeld return to screens after the loss of ratings-toppers Friends and Frasier in two successive weeks.
