A-ha! I'll be back

Coogan hints at Partridge return

Steve Coogan has hinted that Alan Partridge could return.

The comic is heading for Hollywood to star in two serious movies, but said we might not have seen the last of his most famous creation.

Partridge was revived this week for a charity show at the Royal Albert Hall.

And in an after-show party, Coogan hinted there may be more to come while apologizing to the people of Norwich for ridiculing their town.

He said: "I would just like to say sorry to the people of Norwich for taking the p*** out of their city.

"There could be more of Alan Partridge in the future, so sorry to those who live in Norwich, but it looks like there could be some more ridicule for you."

Norfolk councilor Charles Joyce, who last year slated the comic in an official council motion, said he was happy with the apology.

He told the Eastern Daily Press: "Norfolk people can have a laugh at themselves, just as long as people don't take it too far. It is good that Mr Coogan is aware it is an issue."

Earlier this week, Coogan admitted: "The British think of me as Alan Partridge and I'm always going to struggle to get away from that."

But he said he could find straight roles in Hollywood, which knew him more from starring in 24 Hour Party People and the forthcoming Around The World In 80 Days.
