Laughs from the past

Classic sitcom stars in new sketch show

Sitcom stars of the past are to appear in a new BBC1 sketch show, written by a younger generation of mostly unknown comedy writers.

John Inman (pictured), Melvyn Hayes, Ruth Madoc and Gorden Kaye are among the regular cast of Revolver, which starts on January 13.

The first series aired on BBC Choice in 2001, before it was rebranded BBC3, but this time the six new half-hour episodes will air straight onto the mainstream channel.

Other regulars will include Leslie Phillips, Julie Goodyear, Lionel Blair, Honor Blackman, Roy Barraclough, Nicholas Smith from Are You Being Served? and Stephen Lewis Blakey from On The Buses.

And guests will include Janet Brown, Rodney Bewes and Cannon and Ball.
