Who, me?

Izzard denies Time Lord rumours

Eddie Izzard has denied the BBC approached him to be the new Doctor Who.

Former Time Lord Tom Baker previously announced that the comic had landed the role in the revival, expected to be made next year.

But Izzard, who is currently performing sell-out live shows in New York, says it's unlikely he'll get the role.

The comedian told Radio 1: "Tom Baker threw my name up which was fantastic, it's a wonderful honour.

"I hadn't considered it, I didn't even know it was happening, and I don't think the BBC would want me.

"They'd probably rather spit on me and slap me about with fish.

" I think the BBC would say: 'Well we want someone simpler and safer'. I think my breasts are too dangerous."

Izzard is in the States until next month, before embarking on the UK leg of his world tour on November 27.
