Johnny Vegas's marriage could still be saved, his wife has told the Sunday newspapers.

The couple, who have been married just over a year, announced their separation earlier this month.

But wife Kitty told the Sunday Mirror: "We don't plan to divorce - I still love him so much and I fancy him rotten."

Johnny, 32, married interior designer Kitty, 27, just four months after meeting in a London pub and they celebrated the birth of their son Michael - named after Johnny's real name - two months ago.

"Anyone who has just had a child will know how difficult it can be," says Kitty, 27. "You become very inward and it is very hard work and very tiring.

" Johnny works incredibly hard writing and that, coupled with the pressures of bringing up a new family, became too much.

"There has been no big thing - no affairs, and it wasn't Johnny's drinking, either. It is just something between us we are trying to sort out. We are both very upset by what has happened."

"We are both trying to get back to normal," she says. "I don't know what's going to happen in the future but I do know I really, really love him."
