Animated comedy set for full-length film

Cult animated comedy Family Guy is to be made into a full-length movie.

Creator Seth McFarlane is currently working on a script for the film, which would be released directly onto DVD.

He told the movie website Cinescape: "It's all come down to the budget right now. We're hashing it out."

"Timeframe, you're probably looking at a year, a year-and-a-half down the line. It will take a while to make. If we could do it within a year it would be very exciting."

America's Fox network cancelled the show last year, to the protestations of its die-hard fans.

But reruns have proved a success on cable TV, and DVDs of the series have sold well - helping to convincing backers that a feature-length version would be viable.
